Re: question about killing yucca plant...?

uprooting is impossible... they've rooted underneath my patio slab. I've dug almost my entire bed out trying to pull each root out.... they still keep coming back. I heard that they were almost impossible to kill :(

Re: question about killing yucca plant...?
I had a yucca plant once and it died from not having enough light. Maybe you can cover all parts of it above ground with a plastic bag and it'll just die.
Reply:All plant need sunlight to survive? cover the yucca plant with use cardboard or black PVC sheet to cut off the light and they will die a natural death.
Reply:then dig as much as possible then cut the root with a saw probably not recommended but a concrete saw will cut thru almost anything depending on the size of the roots if you can't cut thru, then buy some real crappy dirt practically free stuff that will compact and make it almost impossible to have plants growing there as your backfill material then apply topsoil and plant whatever
Reply:POUR A BOX OF REG. TABLE SALT ON THE ROOT .THAT WILL DRY UP THE ROOT .ALSO KILLS WEEDS..... BY THE WAY .I PLANTED A--ONE--- YUCCA IN BIG FLOWER POT . THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Reply:put try-x weed killer on the roots ..
Reply:i dont think it is actually possible. i have tried digging them up. any root left int he ground will grow new plant. tried different weed killers to no avail. even tried burning. no luck. i just got all the larger ones out and mowed the rest like my lawn. good luck.
