A neighber asked me if I new what the plant that becomes a tubleweed was called and I didnt know so thought Id ask here

What plant does the tumbleweed come from?and who wants Yuccas???
Actually, tumbleweeds are what remains of the plant:

Amaranthus albus or Amaranthus graecizans

When the plant dies, it snaps off at ground level and what is left is a 2 or 3 foot ball of dead plant that is called a tumbleweed. The first time I encountered one on my way to Arizona 40 years ago, one crossed the highway in front of me and I slammed on the brakes to avoid a collision. Never did that again.

Reply:All dead plants have tumbleweed potential: a tumbleweed is just a dead plant -sometimes roots and all- that is blown around in the wind.

Tell your neighbour that now you have found the names, he has to memorise them!
Reply:Sage plants...

Tumbleweeds are dried up sage that are blowing in the wind..
