Little bugs are apparently killing my yucca plant?

The flowers are just now coming up and I can't wait to see them, but lately I've been seeing these little dark soft bodied bugs all over it, and some of the leaves are discoloring. I'm assuming the bugs are at least partially to blame, but I don't know how to get rid of them.

They like to hang out right in the center of the plant, where it is impossible to get to them, so hand picking isn't working. A spider made a web near them, but when I dropped one of the little buggers in there, the spider acted like they were distasteful and wouldn't eat it.

The only thing I can really think of to kill them all is pesticide, but I have a cat that just can't resist licking, playing with, and/or eating everything in sight and he only recently got sick from getting into things he shouldn't.

Help please!

Aphids infest yucca plants, especially the tender flowers. You can purchase insecticidal soap or make it yourself:

1 to 2 tablespoons liquid soap

1 quart water

Mix well and pour into a spray bottle. Squirt on bugs.

Aphids have a waxy coating that keeps them from drying up. The soap dissolves the coating, so they just turn into little mummies and stop bothering your plants.

this mixture won't harm your cat.
Reply:try spraying them with a mix of dishsoap and water

that is what they recommend for roses and their little green bugs.

it can´t hurt to try

good luck.
Reply:Spray bottle with Dawn dish washing soap and water. Spray the plant and especially the bugs. Then rinse the next day.
Reply:I had the same problem with mine and also some of my cacti. They went away in a few days. Don't know what they went or where they came from.
Reply:I don't believe anything will kill a yucca plant! You ought to sell the bugs if they do.
Reply:I have a Jerry Bakers book on natural yard care He has a site also. I use deluted dishsoap on leaves of roses bush for mites. I was unable to locate any thing directly about yucca except that dear do not like that plant. One recipe for aphids is chopped onion, 2 clves garlic chopped, 1 tbsp baby shampoo, with 2 cups water,, mix and let set over nihght, strain and pour in mister ( I used empry squirt bottle) apply liberally.

To help keep cat way from areas sprinkle ammmonia in that area. Will not harm soil. it is a source of nitrgen. Might can get his books at library, good reading *mamatx
