Need to know what type of plant this is. people say it is a yucca but its stalk is green and looks like bamboo

This plant was given to me and i have not idea what it is? it is all green and it is about 17 in tall and the leaves start at the top and they are about 6 in long and about 2 1/2 in wide thre are only about 10 leaves and it looks like it grows from the top of the plant and sheds leaves as it grows to create the bamboo look the stalk is about 1 in around... i have no clue and really need to know what kind of plant this is cause i have to cats and dont want them to get sick if they eat it and i also need to knwo how to care for it. thanks :)

Maybe it is a papaya tree..the stalk of it stays green but looks like bamboo, or it could be Lucky Bamboo. Look both of these up online and see if the pics match what you have.
Reply:It is a yucca, the cats won't eat it, and light watering is all you need.
Reply:Sounds like it could be a "money" tree as well.
Reply:A Yucca has long, pointed leaves and looks nothing like a bamboo. You most likely have bamboo.


But to be sure take it to any local nursery and they will help you, they are plant people after all.
Reply:Your plant could be a any number of indoor cane plants. A Yucca has very sharp thick leaves and you can cut your finger in the edges it you run them along th outside edge. Most Dracaens have similar charismatics as you have mentioned. Non of the above plant groups are toxic to your cats-I have two and o the kitten chews on all. What is more harmful is any insecticide that may still be on the leaves.
