How often I'm I suppose to water my Yucca Cane plants? I've had my indoor plants for about a month. They look good....I'm not sure if I'm suppose to water them bi-weekly or once a month. I have two potted..one with two stalks about 3 feet high and the other with three stalks about 5.5 feet. They sit near my bay window. I think it's once a month?
Watering my Yucca Cane Plants....?
Generally, the more light a plant gets, the more water it needs... but the yucca is a succulent, and needs even less...
watering once a month would probably be a good rule of thumb. But more accurately, stick a finger in the soil, about 1 to two inches deep, if the soil is damp, don't water. If it's bone dry, water it immediately...
Yucca sheds old leaves naturally, one or two at a time, but if it starts shedding leaves by the handful, or if the tip ends of the leaves start turning brown and dying, you'll need to water more... Hope that helps.
Reply:I'm from PR and we rather eat the yuca (Yucca) that have it as an ornament. My wife make this plate she calls "Yuca al mojillo" that's great. Anyway, I used to grow yuca (Yucca, if you prefer another "c") in Hawaii in the back yard and if you leave it alone they fend for themselves naturally. At the most I watered them once every other week and they grew big. Inside though, you only have to check that the ground is moist but not watery, and plenty of light, if not the roots will rot and die.
