How can I separate four baby plants from a Yucca mother plant and when is the best time to do it?

Not sure about the best time, but take one leaf, cut it through the veins with a razor blade, leaving the leaf intact.

Lay the leaf on bedding compost and wait.

Be good to it, it works.

just stick a leaf in the ground
Reply:in the fall which is soon.. dig around the babies, you should see roots on the baby plants.. if the babies are still attached 2 mother, just break the babies off.. as long as the babies have their own roots, they should make just fine on their own..
Reply:The best time to remove the basal suckers is in the Spring.Pot them up in good draining peat based compost, with some added extra washed grit.
Reply:I don't think there is really a best time. Just when the baby plants look healthy enough. Usually plants like this are hard to kill.
Reply:As soon as the baby plants are well 'rooted', it is time. ;p
Reply:I would go down carefully w/ a shovel and get as much of the roots out as you can. yuccas are hardy so I dont think it matters as long as the plant is doing well. Just make sure it gets enough water when transplanted
